THE RADNAI STORY
Morton Radnai was born on August 25, 1896, in Balassagyarmat, Hungary. To provide a better life for his family, free of religious persecution, he departed on the vessel Queen Mary and emigrated to the USA in 1937. His wife Rose and 3 daughters, Agnes, Eva, and Kathleen left Hungary a year later and joined him in 1938. They settled in Philadelphia, PA.
Morton was a brilliant and innovative chemist. He had been working on a new type of hand cream in Hungary and perfected the formula after moving to Philadelphia. He established Radnai Cosmetic Laboratories in 1942 at 5200 Castor Avenue and officially incorporated the business as “Radnai” in 1945.
Morton died after a short illness at the age of 53 in 1950. His hand creams were popular in the Philadelphia area even after his untimely death.
Although we have not been able to find his original hand cream formula, we have researched and created a new recipe that we hope will honor his legacy and bring joy to many.
